Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics
Original Research are carried out in various areas
of Pure and Applied Mathematics. We are particularly strong in
Algebra, Combinatorics and Mathematical Modelling.
Statistics and Biometry
- Statistics
Statistics is concerned with the collection, analysis
and interpretation of data. Research into the discipline is driven by
problems that arise in the real world in areas such as Medicine, Industry
and Finance. Thus, for example, statisticians are developing and refining
models for image processing, for modelling the HIV/AIDS pandemic and
for forecasting share prices.
- Biometry
Biometry is that sub-branch of Statistics which is concerned
with the handling and interpretation of data from agriculture. Research
in Biometry addresses issues in, for example, optimizing plant variety
trials, modelling animal growth, and interpreting genetic information.
Computer Science
Information Systems
- Research in this dynamic field is problem-centred and
typically involves careful analysis of existing information systems and/or practices in
commerce and industry. Traditional quantitative techniques are often
complemented by qualitative analysis.
